As Samsung gears up for the release of its Galaxy Note 7 (or is that the Note 6?) phablet, the rumours and reports are starting to mount up. Review

We already expect the new handset to arrive with a 4K 6-inch display, 256GB storage, and Qualcomm's Snapdragon 823 chipset, or an Exynos 8893 depending on where you live.
And recent 'leaks' have revealed an array of lenses on the front of the Note 7 which seems to indicate the device will come with an iris scanner.
Now, more Note 7 news has surfaced online after the latest Geekbench benchmarking tests showed a version of the device running Android 7.0 Nougat.
The revelation seems to suggest that Samsung's upcoming phablet will run the latest version of Google's mobile OS out of the box, although a version of the Note 7 running Android Marshmallow was also spotted going through the same test in June.
Surprisingly, the latest test yielded low scores, with the SM-N930F (a model number previously associated with the Note 7) model achieving 909 in the single-core stakes and 3,768 in the multi-core test.
However, this latest model was using an Exynos 7420 chipset alongside 3GB of RAM, as opposed to the rumoured Snapdragon 823 and 6GB of RAM we've been hearing about – which explains the low scores.
Interestingly, the Marshmallow model tested in June included an Exynos 8890 and 4GB of RAM, resulting in scores of 2,394 and 7,347 in the single-core and multi-core tests respectively.
While the latest Geekbench scores don't necessarily confirm Nougat as the standard OS for the Note 7, it's now a definite possibility.
Samsung hasn't commented on the latest Geekbench results, and is expected to officially unveil the Note 7 at a dedicated event on August 2.
